Privacy Policy

1. The essentials

This policy covers the Outnudge iPhone app and this website. “Outnudge,” “we,” and “us” refer to the provider of Outnudge. You do not need an Outnudge account. Your activity history, recorded routes, profile, preferences, and reflections are stored on your device; we do not operate a server that receives those records.

Some features use Apple services, and purchase management uses RevenueCat. Those services handle the information described below. We do not sell your personal information, serve targeted advertisements, or use your Health data for advertising. Location, Apple Health, and notifications each have separate iOS permission controls.

2. What stays on your device

• Your profile and preferences: the name you enter, preferred activity, motivation, activity level, daily routine, barriers, goals, preferred time, and reminder choices personalize your experience. The name does not create a public profile.
• Recorded activities: activity type, title, date, duration, distance, elevation, GPS points and their timestamps and accuracy, earned progress, and Apple Health save status let you review your outings and calculate statistics.
• Your daily journey: completed steps, favorites, goals, streaks, XP, trail coins, and your latest reflection feeling and note support your personal progress. Daily quest adjustments use your preferences and recent activity on your device.
• An unfinished recording: a local recovery file stores the session and route so you can recover an interrupted outing. It is removed when the activity is successfully saved or the recording is discarded.

Outnudge does not provide an account-based cloud backup or sync of this history. Your iPhone or computer backups may include app data, depending on your Apple and device settings.

3. Location, maps, and weather

Recording an outing

When you start a recording and allow Location access, Outnudge uses precise location to record your route and calculate distance, pace, and elevation gain. An active recording can continue in the background, including while your screen is locked. Pausing, finishing, or discarding the recording stops its location updates. Outnudge does not continuously record your movements outside a recording session.

Exploring route ideas

Apple MapKit resolves places in the route catalog and displays maps. If you request nearby sorting, your current location is used on the device to compare distances to those places. Map and place requests are processed by Apple. Opening a destination in Apple Maps passes that destination to Apple Maps, whose own settings and privacy terms apply. See Apple Maps & Privacy.

Checking weather with Plus

A weather check sends the coordinates of your requested location or selected destination to Apple WeatherKit to retrieve current conditions and a short forecast. The app requests lower-accuracy device location for weather, but the coordinates it receives and sends may be precise. It does not send your activity history or reflections with the request.

The latest weather response and requested coordinates are cached on your device. The app normally reuses nearby results for 15 minutes and may show clearly identified cached results up to two hours old when a refresh fails. An expired cache is removed when next loaded. Apple Weather attribution and its legal information appear in the app alongside the results.

4. Optional Apple Health access

You choose whether to connect Apple Health and which data types to allow. Outnudge requests access for these features:

• Read workouts: summarize supported outdoor workouts from the previous seven days during onboarding, including workout count, duration, and distance. It also checks for workouts Outnudge previously saved to help prevent duplicates during retries.
• Write workouts: save completed walks, runs, hikes, and bike rides, with walking/running or cycling distance samples and a workout route when you grant the relevant permissions.

The app keeps a saved workout identifier and sync status locally. After you grant write access, it may retry pending saves when you return to the app. Your activity remains in Outnudge if a Health save is denied or fails. The app does not request heart rate, medical records, or your full Health profile.

Health data is used for these health and fitness features. We do not send HealthKit data to RevenueCat or use it for marketing, advertising, data brokerage, or unrelated profiling. Change access in the Health app at any time. Revoking permission does not delete workouts already saved there; manage them separately in Health. Apple controls any Health syncing you enable. 5. Reminders and sharing

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone using your chosen days, time, activity, and sound settings. Snoozing schedules another local notification. Outnudge does not need a remote push notification service to deliver these reminders. You can disable reminders in the app or notifications in iOS Settings.

When you choose to share an achievement, the app creates an image and caption on your device. The card includes the activity type, date, duration, distance, and elevation. It excludes your route, coordinates, profile name, and reflection. Nothing is posted automatically. The app or recipient you select in the iOS share sheet receives what you choose to send and handles it under its own policies. Screenshots you take yourself may contain additional details.

6. Purchases and RevenueCat

Apple processes App Store payments. Outnudge uses RevenueCat to load available plans, validate subscription and one-time Lifetime purchases, manage Plus access, check offer eligibility, restore purchases, and provide purchase support and reporting. The SDK generates a random app user identifier; the app does not send your profile name to RevenueCat.

RevenueCat processes that identifier, purchase and transaction history, subscription and entitlement status, and technical context such as app and operating-system versions. Subscription service requests can occur when you open the app or view plans, even if you have not bought Plus. We do not send your GPS routes, Health records, or reflections to RevenueCat, and we do not receive your full payment card details from Apple.

RevenueCat processes end-user information on behalf of app providers. Its privacy information and App Privacy documentation explain its role and purchase-data handling. Contact us for requests about Outnudge subscription data; contact Apple for App Store billing and Apple Account information.

7. Website visits and support

This website does not use advertising pixels, behavioral analytics, account sign-in, or a contact-form database. Hosting infrastructure may process technical request information, such as an IP address, browser information, requested page, and request time, to deliver the site and maintain security and reliability.

If you email us, we and our email service providers process your address, message, and attachments to answer your request. Include only the details needed to explain the issue. We do not need your Apple Account password, full payment details, or a complete Health or location history to answer a routine support question.

8. Retention and deletion

• Local app data: stays in the app until replaced, cleared through an available feature, or removed by deleting Outnudge. Choose Delete App in iOS to remove its local data; offloading the app preserves documents and data. Existing device backups are managed separately in your backup settings.
• Apple Health: saved workouts and routes are separate from the Outnudge app. Deleting Outnudge does not remove them. Use the Health app to review or delete that data.
• Purchases: deleting the app does not cancel a recurring Plus subscription or automatically erase Apple or RevenueCat records. Records may be retained to provide purchased access, including Lifetime access, handle refunds or disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations.
• Support and service records: are retained as needed to respond, maintain the service, resolve disputes, and meet applicable legal requirements. The appropriate period depends on the record and the reason it is needed.

We cannot retrieve or remotely erase activity data that exists only on your iPhone. Copies you share with others are subject to the recipient's controls. We rely on iOS protections and service-provider security measures; no storage or transmission method is risk-free.

9. Your controls and privacy rights

• Change Location access and Precise Location in iOS Settings. Route recording depends on Location permission.
• Change read and write access for Outnudge in Apple Health.
• Change reminder preferences in Outnudge and notification access in iOS Settings.
• Use the free features without subscribing, and manage Plus through your Apple Account.
• Decide whether to share each achievement and which app or recipient receives it.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of personal information, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. These rights have conditions and exceptions under applicable law.

Send requests to privacy@outnudge.com. We may ask for information necessary to verify and locate the relevant records. Please do not send sensitive activity data just to identify yourself. Withdrawing permission affects future access and does not undo processing that already occurred lawfully.

10. Processing and service providers

Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on consent for optional permission-based features, performance of our agreement for requested services and purchases, legitimate interests in responding to support requests and keeping the service secure, and compliance with legal obligations where required. Sensitive Health access requires your separate permission. Quest suggestions are personal guidance and do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.

Information may be handled by Apple, RevenueCat, and the providers that host the website or process support email as described above. We may disclose information we hold when legally required or when necessary to protect rights and security. This does not give us access to the activity records held only on your device.

Providers may process information outside your country; RevenueCat describes using infrastructure in the United States. Privacy laws can differ between countries. Contact us for information about the providers and transfer safeguards relevant to your request.

11. Children

Outnudge is not directed to children under 13. Where a higher age or parental permission is required by local law, those requirements apply. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through support or another service, contact us so we can review the situation and take appropriate action.

We update this policy when our practices or features change and revise the date above. We will provide additional notice or request consent for material changes when required by applicable law.
